House League Programs Ages 7–12

Program Full? Still complete your online registration. Your child will be added to the waitlist, and we will contact you if a spot opens or the program expands.

Program Requirements: Participants must meet the age and skill level listed. If not, and without prior written approval, we will transfer the registration to a suitable program.

Progression: At The Burlington Pond, we don’t hold players back. If your child is ready for a higher-level clinic mid-session, we will move them—pending instructor approval.

E​valuation Policy: Please be aware that the first session date serves as an evaluation or the first session date player attends (late registrations). Following evaluations, if our Pond Coaches determine that your child may be better suited for another clinic, we will promptly notify you via email. Your child may also be moved to another group time as deemed appropriate. Thank you for your understanding

House League Power Skating Ages 7-12

House League Power Skating programs are designed for players ages 7 to 12, focusing on skating and hockey skills essential for building a strong hockey foundation. Players start in the Beginner Power Skating and, as they progress, advance to the Intermediate/Advanced Power Skating to further develop skating, puck control, and overall hockey performance. Full Hockey Equipment is required.

List of Full Hockey Equipment Required: Hockey Skates, Hockey Helmet, Hockey Stick, Hockey Gloves, Neck Guard, Shoulder Pads, Shin Pads, Elbow Pads, Hockey Pants, Hockey Socks & Water Bottle

BEGINNER POWER SKATING 

Ideal for players with basic skating experience who are ready to strengthen their core skills 

This program is designed for players who have completed a Learn to Skate program or have basic skating abilities, including forward and backward skating and stopping. This session lays the foundation for players to confidently move into the Intermediate/Advanced level.

Focus areas:

  • Forward and backward skating mechanics
  • Stopping in both directions
  • Introduction to edge control
  • Full hockey equipment required

Beginner Power Skating

Session Dates: October 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16, 23 (6 sessions)

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED POWER SKATING 

For players who have completed Beginner Power Skating or demonstrate intermediate skating ability

This program is designed for players who are ready to advance their skating and begin integrating puck skills. Players should be proficient in forward/backward skating, crossovers, and stopping in both directions. This level challenges players to skate with purpose and handle the puck at game speed, preparing them for competitive play and advanced hockey training.

Focus areas:

  • Edge control, acceleration, and agility
  • Crossovers and quick transitions
  • Stick handling, puck control, passing, and shooting while skating
  • Full hockey equipment required

INTERMEDIATE/
ADVANCED POWER SKATING

ADVANCED TECHNICAL SKATING

To participate in this program, players must have successfully completed the Power Skating and Puck Skills program or demonstrate proficiency in forward & backward skating, forward & backward crossovers in both directions as well as stopping in both directions. Must be able to do edge work. This class will focus on all aspects of skating: Overall body posture through all movements, stride technique & power, advanced edges & transitions, weight transfer, change of direction & explosive movements, accelerating starts & crossovers (forwards, backwards) and confined space movements & agility.

ADVANCED TECHNICAL SKATING AGES 9-12

2025 JUNE SESSION

Day & Time: Thursdays 6:30pm – 7:20pm
Session Dates: June 5, 12, 19, 26 (4 weeks)
Birth year: 2015/2014/2013/2012
Cost: $180 + HST
