If the program you are registering for is FULL. Please continue with the online registration your child will be WAITLISTED. You will be in our system to be contacted if a spot opens up or if we expand. AT THE BURLINGTON POND, we do not hold players back. If we deem midway through a session that your child should be a higher level clinic we will move them to the appropriate clinic! Upon Pond Instructor approval.
Learn to Skate registration
Our Learn to Skate Program offers a friendly fun-filled first-time on-ice instruction. We highly recommend skaters complete and graduate sessions to gain the skating skills needed to build a solid hockey foundation. Skaters will be taught the fundamentals of skating; forward skating, backward skating, balance, turning, stopping, crossovers and edges. The Learn to Skate is the build blocks to achieve all levels of hockey House League or Rep Hockey!
Mandatory & Suggested Equipment:
Helmet with a face mask (mandatory)
Hockey Skates or Figure Skates (Plastic Skates are not recommended)
Snow pants & Jacket
Gloves / Mittens
*Knee / Elbow pads should be worn, however sometimes they can restrict movement for very small children
The first session date is evaluation and orientation day. After evaluations, your child could be moved to another group.
AGES 3 – 6 BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE
new skater with little to no experience
Skaters will learn the basics of falling and getting up on their own, forward and backward skating, and build confidence on ice
Skaters will work on all aspects of skating, learning stops, turns, edges and glides while also adding speed to basic forward & backwards skating.
AGES 7 – 12BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE
Skaters will work on all aspects of skating, learning stops, turns, edges and glides while also adding speed to basic forward & backwards skating
PrePower Skating AGES 4 – 8INTERMEDIATE
This program focuses on forwards and backwards skating development, Introduction to edges, and Basic stopping. Hockey Pucks will be introduced as the clinic progresses. Registration Requirements: completed & passed learn to skate beginner.Hockey Stick required for Group 6. Skaters are welcome to wear full hockey gear.
