The Burlington Pond is open all year round with a main focus on constant development and immediate correction. Our progressive drills touch on all aspects of skating and skill development with a concentration on efficient techniques.

Whether it is your first time on the ice, or you lost count a very long time ago, The Pond has something for you. The Pond offers clinics ranging from private 1 on 1 instruction to low student-instructor ratio clinics and team instruction. Providing players with the tools they need that will give them the edge over the opponent.

Founder - Greg Moore

  • Founded The Burlington Pond in 2000, Ontario’s first rink of its kind.
  • Played minor hockey in Burlington, then for the Burlington Cougars.
  • Earned a scholarship to Oswego State University, captained team to championship.
  • Nominated to NCAA All American Team.
  • Known for skating, passing, game awareness, and leadership.
  • Served as captain on multiple teams.
  • Mentored players like Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard.

Owner & Pond Coach - Michele Moore Davison

Years of Experience: ​20 years coaching
Current Team​ or Organization: Toronto Maple Leafs – Skating Development, Oakville Rangers – Skating Development 
Professional Achievements: Inducted into the Skate Canada Hall of Fame

  • National-level singles figure skater, competed in 9 National Championships 
  • World Champion with the Nexxice Synchronized Skating Team (2009)
  • Specializes in Technical Skating Development: posture, balance, weight transfer, acceleration, speed, stride, power production, edges, agility and mobility.

operations manager & Pond Coach - Ryan Moore

Years of Experience: ​16 years coaching
Current Team​ or Organization: Oakville Rangers Skating Development Coach
Professional Achievements: Drafted to the OHL

  • Played Rep AAA, Junior, OHL, CIS., and Sr. A levels
  • Won championships in Junior and Sr.A
  • Ryan works with players of all ages, from AAA, Junior and Pro levels helping them reach their next level and success
  • World-class expertise in acceleration, agility, mobility, and power skating.
  • Notables: Evan Bouchard, Darnell Nurse, Malcolm Spence & many other OHL & NHL players 

Pond Coach - Udo Springman

Years of Experience:  10 years coaching

  • Influenced by various nationalities of coaches had growing up in Germany.  
    Germans, Czechs, Russians & Canadians
  • These diverse influences shaped his approach to coaching and skating.
  • Involved in hockey from 2014 to 2020 with the Burlington Eagles. Head coach and assistant coach

Pond Coach - Tristyn Svetyk

Years of Experience:  6 years coaching
Current Team​ or Organization: Head Coach U18AA Oakville Hornets
Professional Achievements: NCAA

  • Played most of minor hockey for BGHC
  • Finished minor hockey with the Burlington Barracudas Junior team
  • Earned NCAA Division 1 scholarship to the University of Connecticut
  • Three consecutive Hockey East championship appearances
  • Coaching the Burlington Barracudas for 5 years
  • Pursuing Master’s in Education at Brock University
  • Passionate about developing young athletes

Pond Coach - Jaymie Mara LTS Program Director

Years of Experience:  8 years coaching
Current Team​ or Organization: Learn to Skate Program Director
Professional Achievements: National-level synchronized figure skater, competed in 4 National Competition

  • Certified CanPower, CanSkate, and STARSkate Coach
  • With a focus on biomechanics and efficiency improving stride power, balance, and edge control for faster, more explosive skating
  • Passionate about sharing her love of skating and helping every skater reach their full on-ice potential 

Pond Coach - Taylor Woods

  • Focuses on skills development to enhance players’ overall game

Pond Coach - Tom MacDonald

 Years of Experience:  ​25 years coaching
Current Team​ or Organization:
Professional Achievements: Drafted to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL)​ &  Tampa Bay Lightning

  • Played four seasons with the Greyhounds, including three Memorial Cup appearances (1993 Champions)
  • Experience as a head coach, skating instructor, and personal development coach.
  • Specializes in teaching skating through balance and edge work, helping players reach the next level.
  • Emphasizes the mental aspect of the game, an often overlooked component of player development.

Pond Coach - Justin Cloutier

Years of Experience: ​ 15+ years coaching
Current Team​ or Organization: Head Coach U18AA Burlington Barracudas, Canadian Girls Elite Academy
Professional Achievements: 

  • 15 plus years experience of coaching and skill development.
  • Currently Head Coach of the Burlington Barracudas U18AA team
  • Owner/operator of CGEA (Canadian Girls Elite Academy) spring hockey and individual skill development.
  • HP1 certified

Michele Moore

COACH

Michele works with players across the NHL, OHL, and minor hockey levels. In 2022, she was hired as a Skating Consultant by the Toronto Maple Leafs. She specializes in hockey skating fundamentals, focusing on explosive power, quickness, stride efficiency, edge control, and weight transfer helping players become more balanced, agile, and efficient on the ice. By refining posture and body mechanics, her athletes gain speed, power, and endurance, with improved transitions and overall movement.

A former national-level figure skater, Michele competed in nine Canadian Championships in Women’s Singles and won a World Championship with the Nexxice Synchronized Skating Team in 2009. She was later inducted into the Skate Canada Hall of Fame.

Ryan Moore

COACH

Ryan enjoyed a successful playing career at the Rep AAA, Junior, OHL, CIS, and Sr. A levels. He was drafted into the OHL and won championships at both the Junior and Sr. A levels. Known for his elite skating, powerful shot, and high hockey IQ, Ryan now focuses on developing those same skills in players at The Pond. He works with athletes of all ages, helping them reach their next level of performance and success. Notable players he has worked with include Evan Bouchard, Darnell Nurse, and Malcolm Spence, among others.

Greg Moore

COACH

Coach Greg Moore founded The Burlington Pond in 2000, creating Ontario’s first facility of its kind. He is the father of Coach Michele and Coach Ryan, and the foundation of their hockey journey. Greg grew up playing minor hockey in Burlington before joining the Burlington Cougars. He later earned a scholarship to Oswego State University of New York, where he captained his team to a championship and was named to the NCAA All-American Team.

As a player, Greg was known for his exceptional skating, vision, and playmaking ability, along with his natural leadership earning captaincy on multiple teams. Now semi-retired, he continues to coach players of all levels, helping them unlock their potential. He has played a key role in the development of several top athletes, including Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard.

Udo Springman

COACH

Coach Udo’s style of Hockey and skating was influenced by the different Nationalities  of Coaches he had growing up in the german hockey system such as Germans, Czechs Russians & Canadians who coached and guided him throughout my time over there. In 2004 Udo moved back to Canada and got involved in Hockey once again in 2014 within the Burlington  Eagles organization as a coach. He was head coach and assistant coach to teams from 2015 – 2020. Coach Udo is detail oriented and very influential to hockey players at The Pond. He brings a positive attitude and pushes players to reach their full potential.

Tristyn Svetyk

COACH

Coach Tristyn played the majority of her minor hockey for the BGHC. Finished her minor hockey career playing Junior for the Burlington Barracudas. Went on to earn a scholarship to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Connecticut. Coach Tristyn’s ability to read the ice and make smart plays helped carry her team to 3 consecutive hockey east championship appearances. Tristyn is continuing her hockey journey coaching for the Burlington Barracudas for the past 5 years while attending Brock University for her Masters of Education. She enjoys working with and seeing the development in young athletes. 

James Austin

COACH
